The Bath, A Relaxing Sweet For The Baby

The bath, a relaxing sweet for the baby

Water is a beautiful sensation for babies, a natural relaxant. Among other things because babies have lived for nine months in the warm waters of our womb, which provided a home full of calm. This is why the bathroom is so important to them.

Bathing gives them a sense of home, stillness and slow pace that dampens the hostility of the real world and the everyday stress that is felt in the adult world. Their experience is enveloping and sweet, which makes them feel immense well-being.

The bath is a wonderful relaxant that transports the baby to a state of relaxation that leads them to flow, to regulate their perception of the world they just know and, of course, to move openly.

The bath ritual during the first year of life

Since the bath is an ideal time to rest, it is good to carry out a daily bath (without gels)  that, in addition, allows us to carefully maintain the hygiene of our little ones and wrap ourselves in that wonderful feeling of joint enjoyment.

It is very good that from time to time we allow ourselves to carry out a shared bath with our babies, dive into the water and bubble bubbles in their little belly. This will be an important inner connection point for both the child and the mother (or parents).

This moment of the bath constitutes a special and vital occasion that redirects us and helps us to abandon the pains, worries and constant disconnection with the small pleasures of the day to day and the upbringing of our little ones.

The harmony of the movement of water

As we have been saying, the baby’s bath is pure harmony in its movement. It should not be an imposition or daily obligation, but an opportunity for enjoyment and enjoyment, experimentation and play that helps the child to get to know himself and the world around him.

It doesn’t take long for parents to realize that fighting to get out of the water is going to become a custom throughout childhood, since for the little ones it is a magnificent place of fun and conciliation with their exploratory nature.

Water is for them a source of sensations and amazement that will never cease to amaze them. The reflections, the movements, the waves excite them, as well as the freedom to move and the feeling of being far from the prison of gravity.

However, when bathing them we must bear in mind that using soaps every day is not necessary and much less recommended. A baby does not get dirty like an adult, in addition to regulating the cleaning of his skin in a natural way.

Baby bath

In fact, up to twelve months, there are those who recommend that it be done three times a week, since their skin is much thinner and more sensitive than that of a child or an adult. Thus, if we choose to take a daily bath due to the benefits obtained from contact with water, we should not always use gels or shampoos, which is what in the end can deteriorate your delicate skin.

Another important aspect is that, as the pediatrician will tell us, until the umbilical cord falls out (it falls between the first and third week) we do not submerge his little body in water. So until then we can clean them with a sponge.

It is also important that in their first stage of life we do not bathe them in an adult bathtub, but rather that we do so on a raised and resistant surface, so that we can comfortably have everything we need on hand.

At first, it is enough to fill 5 or 7 centimeters of warm water (32º more or less) and proceed to bathe it gently with care and delicacy, making this moment a place of meeting and mutual knowledge full of satisfaction and tranquility.
